Artistic approaches and moments of action and experience are diverse and divergent in the training of prospective art teachers. In the event series «SPOT ON. Art practice in teacher training», practical art teaching formats are reLected at university level. The aim is to create an art education platform that takes an annual look at specific areas of artistic practice at different training centres (teacher training colleges, academies, universities). The events serve to present and discuss different artistic attitudes, self-conceptions and teaching concepts and to question them in joint action.

The kick-off event will take place on 16 and 17 June 2023 at the Technische Universität Dresden and is dedicated to the broad field of artistic-performative action strategies with a special focus on performance art. The event is based on a broad, pluralistic concept of performance: as a contemporary aesthetic practice, performance art is characterised by multi-perspectival and dissociative formations in design and draws on the broad field of post-digital visual worlds in its moving and still varieties. As a form of exploration and expression in artistic teaching, performance art materialises in the physical encounter between people and in the interaction between people and things, which are made the object of action in the confrontation. Through the body-relatedness and the practical execution of action, performative design enables transformations that give space to the body's own will and provide impulses for the emergence of something new through a special physical sensitisation. Physical routines, automatisms and stabilisations are broken up and expanded. In this way, performance art can succeed in consciously undermining conventional juxtapositions of reality, imagination, authenticity and role play.

For the practical teaching of future art teachers, performance in this sense is supported by a demanding and challenging understanding of education, which can then also gain importance in school teaching contexts via the interface of one's own experience. ...
