Throughout 2026, Jörg and Dorothea met regularly to jointly develop the concept for the happening KIPPPUNKTE — INTO THE VOID. To complement this process – so as not to simply ‘sit and think’ – they began improvising together using their voices. Both are interested in developing their vocal work.
OffrOadio is Jörg Köppl’s radio programme on Kunstradio So21.

our approach

During Dorothea’s time as a dance artist in the 1980s and 1990s, the focus was on movement improvisation, with the voice playing a supporting role.
For her, the voice is also a form of physical movement. Her vocal articulations find their starting point in the connection between breath and movement. She seeks to immerse herself completely in the state and sensation of the body-space-voice, thereby creating the possibility of allowing herself to be guided by unfamiliar vocal sounds linked to movement, emerging from the unconscious.
She wonders where the tonal and melodic fragments that also emerge from her memory come from and why they have been stored there.
As in her movement-based performances, the approach and idea is to use vocal improvisation to create a body-space situation that allows what seeks to elude her control over breath, voice and movement to come to the fore.
Everything that has accumulated in her body’s (collective) memory, and which is in tension with a momentary search for expression and vocal articulation – including in situational interaction and in collaboration with her ‘Stimpro partner’ Jörg Köppl – contributes to the structure of this improvisation.
