Nairs in movimaint — PANCH residency and collaborative performances

PANCH, the Performance Art Network CH, has been a guest in residence at the Centre for Contemporary Art in NAIRS for a week since the end of November. Never before has the site on the banks of the Inn been explored under explicit performative aspects. The PANCH project NAIRS IN MOVIMAINT approaches the history and current situation of the former bathhouse, possible visions and extensions as a collectively multidimensional structure. 15 performance artists with different backgrounds in art, music, literature, dance, theatre and science worked site-specifically and collaboratively for a week, setting NAIRS today with works developed in situ. The location sets the themes and is at the same time a performance venue as well as a platform for publicising and presenting the Performance Art Network CH in Rhaeto-Romanic Switzerland. ...

... On Sunday, the artists arrived at NAIRS in the course of the day. The prelude was the joint dinner, which was a fixed meeting point throughout the week and part of a collaborative cooking research. On Monday, Christof Rösch, the artistic director of the Centre for Contemporary Art, guided the group through the NAIRS ensemble. We visited the drinking hall, bathhouse and the surroundings of the hotel, listened to narratives of the past and the present. This was an important first input for the in-situ works to be developed. Two open sessions under the title PANCH IN ACZIUN on Tuesday and Wednesday, as well as the joint reflective exchange after dinner under the title NAIRSREFLEXIUN were time-limited formats. They enabled practical and reflective exchange with the place as well as with each other, so that cooperation could (re)emerge if there was interest. The framework was informal and at the same time formed connecting fixed points.
