workshop «Handling Movement» avec Dorothea Rust 14—18 février 2011 (5 jours)

In this workshop, participants will create living environments with an emphasis on being present in a solo attitude. Classes will be composed of various exercises drawing from somatic approaches, tai chi, yoga, postmodern dance techniques and experimental anatomy. The workshop will culminate in a series of movement explorations and improvisations alternating between states of receptivity and action. Vivid situations will be created through action/movement, voice and object manipulation while encouraging participants to share their ideas and interests.

Au cours de cet atelier, les participants créeront des environnements vivants en mettant l’accent sur l’état de présence dans une attitude solo. Les classes seront composées d’exercices variés puisant de l’approche somatique, du tai-chi, du yoga, des techniques de danse postmodernes et de l’anatomie expérimentale. L’atelier culminera en une série d’explorations du mouvement et d’improvisations en alternant entre les états de réceptivité et d’action. Des situations vivantes seront créées à partir d’actions/mouvements, de la voix et de la manipulation d’objets tout en encourageant les participants à partager leurs idées et leurs intérêts. ...

Studio 303, founded in 1989, is a not-for-profit registered charity, dedicated to the development innovation in new dance and interdisciplinary practices. Situated in downtown Montreal, Studio 303's 2000 sq foot sunny loft is used for workshops, rehearsals and monthly presentations. The space, and its equipment, may be rented. Studio 303 exists to promote the evolution of live artistic practices. Concentrating on the physical body, Studio 303 is a unique resource centre which offers cutting edge workshops, innovative administrative services and a flexible, intimate studio laboratory where new works may be created and presented.
