With the summer exhibition «Leichtbekömmlich» Kunsthalle Lucerne reanimates BASIS documentation center. The archive with portfolios and publications of artists from Central Switzerland offers some insight into their art works.
About half of the 180 BASIS members has responded to the open call for the summer exhibition. Each one of them are presenting one work of art of their own choice, with a maximum size of 50cm x 50cm (x 50cm).

about the documentation centre
The Central Swiss Documentation Centre of the Kunsthalle Lucerne - for short known as BASIS - was initiated in 1996 by the then Kunsthalle director Stephan Wittmer. It is a documentation centre for analogue artist portfolios and artist books by artists from the Central Swiss region.
Since its foundation, the BASIS-Dokustelle has been relocated, restructured and redesigned several times. The documentation centre comprises individual portfolios of artists from different cantons of Central Switzerland, which are made available free of charge for public use at the Kunsthalle Lucerne. The collection of portfolios provides an insight into the extensive and varied artistic production in Central Switzerland. For depositing the portfolios, the artists pay an annual fee of CHF 30 for the coordination and management of the BASIS Focus Point by the Kunsthalle Lucerne.
The artists are thus part of the Kunsthalle Luzern - not only through the presence of their portfolios, but they are also involved in the program through projects, exhibitions and other supporting events.
The documentation centre can be found in digital form on the website of the Kunsthalle Luzern - the alphabetically arranged artist names are linked to e-mail and website. In addition, the Kunsthalle Luzern sends out a quarterly newsletter in which artists are also given the opportunity to publish their exhibition notes.
