the curatorial concept «Vom Fusse der Mauern in den Horizont» (from the foot of the walls into the horizon) by Susann Wintsch

The artistic presentation of the Cantonal Hospital Zug in Baar - an unconventional art project. The Zurich curator Susann Wintsch was the winner of the competition for art in construction at the Zug Cantonal Hospital in Baar. Her project «Vom Fusse der Mauer in den Holirzont»is intended to have a positive and poetic influence on everyday hospital life. The Zug competition was special in that curators, rather than artists, were invited to participate. Susann Wintsch was the winner after the prequalification among three other competitors and convinced the jury - consisting of representatives of the hospital, the architecture office of the cantonal administration and external experts - because her idea on the one hand continues the architectural aesthetics of the transparent hospital building and on the other hand subtly incorporates the surroundings and thus opens the view out of the building into the surrounding landscape. «The artistic approach of working with the body in public space takes up the central theme of the hospital and will enrich everyday life in Baar in a poetic way», the jury was convinced. They were eager to see what would be created and visualized in the next three years.

My work «Alles wird gut» was the first of six stages of the artistic presentation of the new Cantonal Hospital Zug. The curatorial concept bears the title «Vom Fusse der Mauer in den Horizont» because it takes up the generous window fronts of the new building. The windows are a central element of the hospital architecture. They open the view to the outside and thus span a bridge from one reality to another. Because those who look out of the window let their thoughts wander, stream across fields and hills, enter new rooms and time axes.
