Alles wird gut — Schmerzgrenzen

the Cantonal Hospital Aarau has an art collection

comprising over 2800 works of art. Most of them can be discovered on the large park grounds and in the hospital buildings. A smaller part is stored in the hospital's own art depot. Sculptures, works of art and architecture, large and small-format paintings, photography and prints are an integral part of the Cantonal Hospital Aarau. Original works of art and original prints by artists*, some of them well-known, hang in the wards, in the patient and examination rooms, in meeting rooms, offices and corridors. Every year hundreds of images change their location, are temporarily stored in the Art Depot and wait to be selected by individuals or working teams.

Sadhyo Niederberger, the hospital's art commissioner, also organises a wide range of performative events (readings, concerts, performances and more), which enable encounters between passers-by, visitors and hospital patients and allow the limits of the spatial use of the hospital to be experienced and even softened.
