hNC — agency of the new comtemporay

* Opening Gala at the Hub with auction *

the makers* of hNC describe their project as follows

«hNC is a live art/-ists agency that offers organizations, institutions and individuals the opportunity to commission and experience performance art outside recognized and institutionalized channels. Thanks to hNC, anyone can order a performance!Countering the current trend of casting performance art as entertainment, HNC returns creative control to the artists, experimenting with the formation of new production chains and expanding the operational field for (critical) performance art. Go online and order a semi-customized, critical performance for your gala or dinner, in-home salon or one-on-one private session ...»

the makers* of hNC announce the Gala as follows

This is hNC’s opening event, were we are our own clients, we make our own gala for HnC. We will do a gala as it usually happens but with the lack of means. This creates attention in the room, a social connection between the people.
There is an entrance, a cocktail, a speech, there is a catering, there is again a speech and there is a concert that the people have to do themselves. With the low budget event some community forming will happen, maybe people will have to share chairs because there are no more chairs, there is not the money to accommodate the people in the way that the gala does.
Within this gala structure we would like to present the collaborating artists in a way that they don't feel misused or too much exposed. We would like to have a moment were the artists can have a short presentation. There will be a fundraising event.
The performative interventions should be unpredictable. It is impossible that everyone shows a 1hour performance. You are invited to come to this event and you are within the audience and everyone will be mentioned, and you will have between 1-10 sec performance intervention. It can be something that is only 2 seconds, it depends on how you feel about it. You can just present yourself by being there or by not being there. The intervention could interrupt the evening program or could be for instance a private encounter with someone in the audience and it doesn't interrupt.

hNC at Manifesta 11

The European biennial of contemporary art
Manifesta 11 Zurich
11.6.—18.9.2016 Zurich, Switzerland
text from the website:
What People Do for Money – that is the existential question addressed by Manifesta 11. It deals with a topic which concerns all of us. Why do some people earn more than others – for the same work? Why are men often quicker than women to climb the corporate ladder? Why is social status still measured by one’s profession and position? Is the passion with which “workaholics” pursue their jobs simply a pretext for their alienation and exploitation? And there is more: how do you go about finding work in a country that is foreign to you? And how does a fully digitised world work in which robots have finally replaced us – and labour as a concept has become obsolete?
